Belgos, Brandis, Fargrim, Jarren, Keira, Valenae. If you’ve played D&D Encounters over the past year or so than you know these six heroes better than you know your own mother – well, maybe not that well, but they hold few surprises any more. Wizards of the Coast provided copies of these pre-gens with every season of D&D Encounters since March of the Phantom Brigade five seasons ago. This was an intentional and deliberate decision on their part to encourage players to create their own characters. However some players prefer to play the pre-gens and have been clamouring for more. Since Wizards isn’t providing new pre-gens it falls to us, the fans, to create our own new ones.
In our Pre-Generated Character Library we’ve collected all of the official pre-gens and posted many fan-made pre-gens to expand your options. Today we add nine new Star Wars themed pre-gens to the library. These are courtesy of Andrew Asplund and Tales from the Gamer Viceroy.
Andrew’s been participating in D&D Encounters since season two (Dark Sun). When Wizards stopped providing new pre-gens he saw it as a golden opportunity to make some of his own, using a wider range of races and classes. He found that regular characters didn’t really excite the players at his FLGS so, drawing inspiration from a player who modeled his PC after a character from a popular video game, Andrew decided to leverage character ideas from classic fantasy and sci-fi but give them a 4e D&D feel. He found that when players used characters that were based on someone they knew from other mediums and genres it changed the way they played; they felt an immediate connection to the pre-gen and it made the game a lot more exciting for everyone.
These nine pre-gens were inspired from Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Now you can play a Jedi, a Clone Trooper or even a Protocol Droid during D&D Encounters. It may seem odd to have Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi join a party of adventurers fighting the Drow beneath Shadowdale in the Forgotten Realms, but when you take stock of the other PCs at the table are these two really that out of place?
We’d like to thank Andrew for creating these great pre-gens and for allowing us to host them here on Dungeon’s Master. Be sure to visit Tales from the Gamer Viceroy which features more of Andrew’s work including articles on gaming, novelty pre-generated Dungeons & Dragons characters, game reviews and the occasional comic.

Encore!
These are awesome. Let's see R2-D2!
I think C-3PO is actually my favorite.
This is actually pretty awesome. I've always been a big fan of reskinning but this is an awesome example of it in action. I do think C-3PO is the best one, not only because he's a great Lazy Warlord but it actually works as C-3PO.
I appreciate the feedback! It's been quite a thing hammering out ridiculous re-skinned D&D characters and I'm always pleased to see people using them. Hopefully, a number of D&D Encounters games will go a little sideways when a clone contingent lead by Jedi show up.
Thanks, everybody!
More, more, more! This is possibly the most awesome thing I've ever seen related to the intersection of D&D and Star Wars!!! I would gladly play SW D&D (Dagobah & Droids? Darth & Krayt Dragons). Kudos in the highest regard!
Well done, these are great. Another great example of the power of 4e, too bad they are chucking it.
Honestly, these were all made using the Character Builder with no "house rule" mods. I wanted them to be safe for Encounters play (although I refuse to comply with the "Essentials only" prohibition).
I'm in the process of building one-off adventures with pre-made characters based on episodes of The Clone Wars (no, I'm not obsessed!). I'm more willing to fudge around for that.
But, like you said, 4E has a lot going for it for people interested in a RPG with a heavy tactical combat model. As an old player of RPGs, I cannot help but feel like 4E was a good example of "if you don't tell them they can, they won't."
I'm glad people like what I've done and I invite you to suggest (or make) your own completely re-skinned D&D 4E characters.
I'm totally going to do this with an Avatar: Last Airbender one-shot. Almost too easy with Heroes of Elemental Chaos...
